Alumni Spotlight: Leila Ramos

Meet Leila Ramos (Class of 2025)
Founder, Hope Resuscitated

When Leila Ramos lost several family members to overdose, she decided to take action. In a community where addiction is often “a hush-hush topic,” Ramos founded Hope Resuscitated, an initiative that provides free Narcan and overdose education across the Baton Rouge region.

The idea might have stayed an idea—until Ramos joined YEA BR. Through YEA BR, she gained the tools, confidence, and connections to turn her vision into a real community effort. She learned how to build a plan, reach out to partners, and take practical steps toward impact. From there, things moved quickly.

Ramos began attending local mental health events, introducing herself and sharing her idea. Community leaders took notice. Distributors stepped up to help. Soon, she had what she needed to make Hope Resuscitated a reality.

The project launched with a Narcan stand outside the West Feliciana Parish Library in St. Francisville, offering 20 packs of Narcan nasal spray, free to anyone who might need it. The stand quickly ran out and had to be refilled within a week. With the help of a $3,000 grant, Ramos is now keeping it stocked and expanding the effort.

Today, Hope Resuscitated’s boxes can be found at both the Zachary and West Feliciana libraries, with plans underway for additional sites across the Baton Rouge area. Each box provides free, easy access to Narcan—removing barriers and stigma for those seeking help.

What began as a deeply personal response to loss has become a growing movement for change. Through YEA BR, Ramos transformed her idea into a model of youth-led community action—bringing hope, education, and lifesaving resources to others.
